Beetroot chapathi : Chapathi is a type of flat bread which is also known as roti. It is originated in India. These are made with whole wheat flour ( atta ) .

The dough is prepared with wheat flour, water and oil, kneeded well, then it is rolled out and cooked in tava.

It is one of the main food item of Indians. The word chapathi is originated from the hindi word ‘chapath’ which means flat. The chapathi is cooked partially in tava and then in direct flames.

This method is used to make the chapathi fluffy like a ball. There are large varities in chapathi like paneer chapathi, vegetable stuffed chapathi, radish chapathi, carrot chapathi , beetroot chapathi.

The carrot chapathi and beetroot chapathi are nice in color. Vegetable stuffed chapathi is one of the tasty chapati and it can be eaten without any curry also.

  • 1 Cup Beetroot Cut into cubes
  • 2 Cup Wheat flour
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1/4 Tsp Cumin powder
  • Salt As required


  • In a pressure cooker add the beetroot, some salt and water. Cook it till 2 whistle.
  • In a blender and the beetroot and the stock, blend it to smooth paste.
  • In a bowl add the beetroot paste, wheat flour, cumin powder and some salt. Mix it all well. Kneed them and keep it to rest for an hour.
  • Make balls with the dough. And roll each balls with a rolling pin.
  • In a tava cook all the rolled chapatis.


  • can also prepare puri with the same dough.
  • can use carrot instead of beetroot to make a carrot chapathi.
