Chow mein are Chinese stir-fried noodles with vegetables and sometimes meat or tofu. The dish is popular throughout China and appears on the menus of most Chinese restaurants abroad. It is particularly popular in India, Nepal, the UK,and the US. Lets see how to prepare it.

For chicken marination

  • 250 g Boneless chicken Thinly sliced
  • 1 Tsp Soy sauce
  • 1/2 Tsp Oyster sauce
  • 1 Tsp Pepper powder
  • 1 Tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 Tsp Garlic paste
  • Salt As required
  • 1 Tsp Corn flour

For Chow mein

  • 500 g Noodles
  • 1 Cup Cabbage Chopped
  • 1 Red bell pepper Chopped
  • 1 Green bell pepper Chopped
  • 1 Carrot Sliced
  • 1 Tbsp Dark soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Light soy sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 1 Tsp Chilli flakes
  • 1 Tsp Pepper powder
  • 1/4 Cup Coriander levaes Chopped (optional)
  • Salt As required
  • Water
  • 2 Tbsp Oil
  • 5-6 Garlic
  • 1 Inch Ginger
  • 1 Tsp Vinegar
  • 1 Tsp Red chilli sauce


  • Marinate the chicken with ingredients mentioned. Refrigerate it for 30 minutes.
  • Boil water add some salt and cook the noodles.
  • Once cooked remove the water and pour some cold water. Keep it aside till water strain out completely.
  • In a wok add some oil. To this add marinated chicken and fry it.
  • To the same add the veggies and saute and mix well.
  • To this add chopped ginger and garlic. Mix it well. Cook it for 2-3 minutes.
  • To this add pepper powder and mix well.
  • Add the cooked noodles and mix well.
  • In a bowl add dark and light soy sauce, oyster sauce, red chilli sauce, vinegar, and chilli flakes. Mix it well.
  • Pour this to the noodles and mix it well together.
  • Finally add coriander leaves and mix it well.
