Chocoflan is one of the Mexican dessert item. It is prepared in two layers. The first layer is a caramel custard, prepared with egg and milk as main ingredient. The second layer is chocolate cake. Its very simple and easy to prepare. Now lets see how to prepare it.

First layer

  • 3 Egg
  • 1/4 Cup Condensed milk
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla essence
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 3/4 Cup Sugar

Second layer

  • 3 Egg
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla essence
  • 3/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Vegetable oil
  • 1.5 Cup All purpose flour
  • 3 Tbsp Cocoa powder
  • 2 Tsp Baking powder
  • A Pinch Salt

For caramalising

  • 3/4 Cup Sugar


  • In a pan add sugar for caramelising. Stir well continuously, when it turns light golden brown colour. Turn off the flame. Pour it to a pudding tray.
  • In a blender add eggs, condensed milk, vanilla essence, milk and sugar. Blend it all well.
  • Pour this on top of the caramel .
  • In a bowl add egg, vanilla essence, sugar, milk, and vegetable oil. Beat them with electric beater.
  • Mix all the other dry ingredients, all purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
  • Add this to the beaten mix and then beat it again with electric beater to mix it all well.
  • Pour this on top of the custard layer.
  • In a tray pour some water and put this chocoflan tray on top of it.
  • Preheat the oven 180℃ . Keep the chocoflan to bake for 40-45 minutes.
