Tart is a type of baked item which can be filled any fruit pulps or nuts. In modern times tart can also be prepared in mini size.

This can be filled with custard, chocolate or any fruit or nuts. The word tart is derived from the french word tarte which means pie.

Both pie and tart are almost the same item. Custard tart is one of the yummy pastry item.

For tart

  • 75 g Butter
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1/2 Tsp Vanilla essence
  • 1 Cup All purpose flour

For custard

  • 500 ml Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp Vanilla essence
  • 3 Egg yolk
  • 3 Tsp Corn flour


  • 2 Tbsp Green grapes Finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp Pomegranate


  • In a bowl add butter (room temperature) and sugar mix them well.
  • To this add egg yolk and vanilla essence. Mix it well.
  • To this add all purpose flour and mix slightly, (do not over mix it). Refrigerate it for 30 minutes.
  • Grease the tart mould with butter. Press the dough and shape it in the mould. Cut the extra dough with knife.
  • Preheat the oven 170℃ and keep all the dough sticked moulds in oven for 15-20 minutes or till light brown color.
  • In a pan add milk, sugar and vanilla essence, stir it till boiled. Turn of the flame and let it cool for some time.
  • In a bowl add egg yolks and corn flour mix it well. Add some part of the milk and mix well.
  • Pour this to the remaining milk and heat it all again till custard gets thickened.
  • Demold the tart. Pour the custard to the tart. Garnish with fruits. Yummy custard tart is ready.
