Marshmallow is a type of confectionery which is made from sugar, water and gelatin and is whipped and formed to a squishy consistency. It is used as a filling in baking, or commonly molded into shapes and coated with corn starch. So marshmallows are very easy to make from home. Now lets see how to prepare marshmallows.

  • 3 Cups Sugar
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp Gelatin
  • 1/2 Cup Hot water
  • 3/4 Cup Corn flour


  • In a pan add sugar and water. Lets the sugar melts completely and bring it to boil.
  • To this add lemon juice and boil it again.
  • In a bowl take some cool water drop some sugar syrup to it and check with hands whether the sugar become ball shape. If yes the syrup is ready and turn off the flame.
  • In a bowl add gelatin and hot water and soak it for 10 minutes.
  • Double boil and melt the gelatin.
  • Pour this melted gelatin to a large bowl.
  • Beat it with egg beater, when it becomes a foamy consistency, slowly pour the sugar syrup to it bit by bit
  • Beat it till soft peak.
  • In a tray put the baking sheet on all sides. Spread some corn flour over it.
  • Pour half of the batter to the tray.
  • In the remaining half add any food color and mix well.
  • Pour this on top of the first portion.
  • Slightly tap the tray.
  • Refrigerate it for 8 hours or overnight.
  • Take the marshmallows prepared and remove the baking sheet.
  • To the knife brush some corn flour.
  • Cut the marshmallow to small piece and coat all the sides with corn flour.
