Porcupine Bun : Buns are usually small in size. It is one of the best tea time snack. Buns are sweet or spicy based on the ingredients. Sweet buns can be served with honey, caramel or chocolate. Spicy buns are filled with chicken, or meat. Buns are different from bread.

Breads are usually big loaf, whereas buns are smaller in size. Buns can be made in different shape as we prefer. Kids usually love to eat buns when they are differently shaped.Buns are usually made with flour, yeast and butter. There are a lot variety of buns, chicken bun is one among them. Buns when filled with chicken it become much tastier.

Chicken is fried and sauted with onion to make the fillings. Buns are made in oven or steamed bun. Steamed buns are much softer as compared to the bun made in oven. Buns made in oven are cooked soon in short time, where as steamed bun require more time to cook.

Ingredients
  

For bun

  • 3 Cup All purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp Butter
  • 1 Tsp Yeast
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1/4 Tsp Sugar

For fillings

  • 500 g Boneless chicken
  • 1 Cup Onion Finely chopped
  • 1 Tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 Tsp Garlic paste
  • 1 Tsp Paprika powder
  • 1 Tsp Pepper powder
  • 1/2 Cup Coriander leaves
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Green chilli paste
  • 1 Tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 Tsp Tomato sauce

For topping/garnish

  • Pepper
  • Egg yolk

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl add all the ingredients for the dough and mix well. Kneed them well and keep it for doubling.
  • Marinate the chicken with paprika powder and salt and fry them.
  • Chop the fried chicken to small pieces.
  • In a pan add some oil, to this put the onion, ginger paste, garlic paste and some salt and saute well.
  • To this add pepper powder, the chopped chicken, green chilli paste, and tomato sauce and saute it well.
  • Finally add coriander leaves to this and saute it for a minute. Fillings ready
  • Take the dough and fill it with chicken fillings prepared.
  • Make this dough to shape of a rat.
  • Cut the top portion of dough with scissors to make porcupine.
  • Make eyes of porcupine with pepper.
  • Brush egg yolks on top of the porcupine made.
  • Peheat the oven in 220℃. Keep the porcupine bun for 8 minutes.
