How to make spicy chicken Bao

Bao is a soft steamed bun. The name bao is derived from the chinese word baozi, which means bun. This bun is filled with meat or chicken. This is one of the main dish in china. Koreans also prepare bao bun. Normally buns are prepared in oven which gives hard crust for the bun.

This bun do not form any hard crust since it is prepared by steaming. The fillings used to fill this bun are normally spicy. Spicy food lovers always love to eat bao.

The ingredients used to prepare this bun is same as the other bun, the only difference is steaming. Bao buns are easy to prepare from home. Here let me show you how to prepare it.

Steps by step instruction

  • In a bowl mix all the ingredients for the bun. Kneed them well. Keep it for doubling.
  • In a bowl add the milk, ginger garlic paste, pepper powder and salt. Mix them well. To this add the chicken and mix well. Keep it in refrigerator for an hour.
  • In a bowl mix all purpose flour, paprika powder, garam masala powder and mix it all well. Coat the marinated chicken in this mix. Deep fry it.
  • Take the dough and roll it with rolling pin in 9cm diameter.
  • Brush the inner part of the rolled dough with oil and fold it into half. Keep this for half and hour. Then steam the dough to make bun.
  • In a pan add all ingredients for saucing and heat it for 5 minutes.
  • Mix the sauce and chicken together.
  • Take the steamed bun, fill the chicken in between the folds.
  • Garnish with onion, coriander leaves and sesame seeds. Spicy bao is ready.

Ingredients
  

For bun

  • 3 Cups All purpose flour
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Tbsp Butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1/4 Tsp Sugar

For chicken marination

  • 500 g Chicken breast Cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 1 Tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Pepper powder
  • 1 Cup All purpose flour
  • 1 Tsp Paprika powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Garam masala powder

For chicken saucing

  • 5 Nos Red chilli Grind it to fine paste
  • 2 Tbsp Honey
  • 2 Tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 Tbsp Dark soya sauce
  • 1 Tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 Tsp White vinegar

For garnish

  • 1/2 Onion Thinely slices
  • 3 Tbsp Coriander leaves Finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame seed
